Look no further!A personalized tour of St.Petersburg.

We had a spectacular 3d visit to St. Petersburg, thanks to Timofey, Sergei and Tailored Tours! Our guide Sergei was not only a welcoming and pleasant person to spend a few days with, he was incredibly educated, intelligent and informative. Our discussions ranged from art to history to philosophy to religion to current events - both in Russia and the world - and Sergei provided thought-provoking insight and a deep understanding on many levels.

From a logistics perspective, the extent of customized planning that went in to our trip before our arrival was evident throughout our stay, but the flexibility of the company and in particular, of Sergei in accommodating some last minute requests was quite unique. Sergei went out of his way to accompany us on an unplanned trip to the national botanical garden exhibit and ensure our safe transit home. The ability to stride right past enormous lines at Catherine's Palace, the Hermitage and elsewhere with a private guide was incredible. Our one-on-one private tours of the museum exhibits were in stark contrast to the massive group tours, where people struggled to hear their moderator as he/she droned on with rehearsed speeches. Round-trip airport-to-hotel transit was seamless and punctual, and allowed us to maximize our time in St. Petersburg.

Simply stated, our trip to St. Petersburg and Tailored Tours' services could not have been better, and we are most grateful to Timofey, Sergei and their outstanding staff.

There is a reason Rick Steves recommends Timofey Kruglikov and Tailored Tours, his company is hands down, the BEST! I pestered Timofey for months tailoring our 2 days of touring with many many questions-- we added Jewish heritage, we added the Folklore show at night, we added the Siege on Lennigrad Memorial, and we added souvenir shopping (made sure you add this!!) -- but most importantly Timofey was extremely attentive to details and helped me decide how to best utilize our two days off the Disney Magic. My husband and two sons ages 20 and 16 and I believe touring with Katarina and Max our driver, was the ultimate experience of our 11 day Baltic Cruise! Katarina is an art history professor at the University of St. Petersburg and we were lucky to have her, as she "moonlights" each summer with Timofey. We had in depth discussions about ALL history of Russia-- but her expertise in art history was a huge bonus! We had early entry to the Hermitage, added on the Impressionists AND the Diamond room... probably there about 5 hours!! Katarina was patient with my 20 year old son practicing his beginning Russian, she was delightful and truly cared that we had meaningful visits on our chosen itinerary each day. Timofey met us as we were dropped off our second day at the ship and he wanted to personally hear our feedback. A class act, all the way. Really, look no further.

Totally Awesome!!!

This was a wonderful 2 Day Tour and our Guide and Driver was AWESOME! We were on a 9 Day Baltic Cruise and instead of booking a tour of St. Petersburg through the Cruise Line we did a little research and booked through Tailored Tours of St. Petersburg and we are so happy that we did! We were picked up both days at our Cruise Port and Returned at the end of the day. We saw everything and it was A++! The great thing about Tailored Tours is that you work with them directly to do what ever it is that you want to. They are great about suggesting places to go ahead of time and then you can email back and forth to set your itinerary. Everything is planned about before you arrive, any changes that you may want to make are no problem. This is definitely the way to see St. Petersburg, and would highly recommend booking through them. We traveled in June of 2018. My wife and I and two teenagers had a wonderful time, extremely well informed local guides and drivers, safe, worth the price, and a great time!

I heartily recommend to anyone planning a visit to St. Petersburg that you do two things: Contact Timofey Kruglikov and plan to spend a minimum of two full days, three days is preferable. We were wall to wall for two very, very full days and were exhausted at the end. Had we the chance to do it over, we’d have spread the same sights and lessons over three days. We had a group of six.

We discovered Timofey online by reading another review, which described him as, “a font of knowledge” and indicated that he could help us meet the fairly strict Russian visa requirements (which he did for us). Because we were late signing up, we were disappointed to learn that Timofey was already booked on the dates we were in St. Pete. Not to worry, Timofey had another member of his entourage ready and I can’t imagine that Timofey, himself, would have been any better than our delightful guide, Kate, a newly minted Ph.D. in art history.

Kate not only opened our eyes to previously undiscovered (for us) art concepts at the Hermitage, Catherine’s Palace, Peterhof, Church on the Spilt Blood, and many other sites, but she proved outstanding in general Russian and Soviet Union history. None of us could a recall a single question to which she lacked an informative response.

Timofey and Kate tailored our two-day tour to our specific requests after several back and forth email exchanged to settle on what our interests were.

If you are planning a visit to St. Petersburg, my advice is simple: contact Timofey, ask for a tailored tour, and listen to his advice.

The highlight of our entire Baltic cruise was our time with Timofey Kruglikov of Tailored Tours of St. Petersburg. Timofey is an impressive historian, cultural scholar, and a native of St. Petersburg. Our 3 day custom tour of St. Petersburg could not have been better planned, yet was flexible to adjust for weather and our special musical interests. Tim was our exclusive guide at The Hermitage, Russian Museum, Peterhof, St. Isaacs, sharing the deeper meanings of symbols and styles in the art. If you love art/history, Tim will flood your senses and bring it to life! Timofey also took us into parts of the palaces that were not part of usual tours and to places that were not on the usual tours such as a church service at St. Nicholas. It was enlightening to see how Russians worship in an orthodox church. Our time at the The Monument to the Defenders of Leningrad during the 900 day siege in WWII was especially moving. August is a crowded time of year with tourists (though the gardens were exquisite), yet Tim planned our entrances so there was no waiting! Timofey is congenial, sincere, extremely knowledgeable and has a great sense of humor. We highly recommend his affordable and personal guidance while in St. Petersburg!

Timofey

We had a wonderful time with Evgeniya. She really spent nearly a whole day with us for which we are very grateful.  We had a great discussion on politics during lunch at the Hermitage...! You have some wonderful assistants who will stand in for you, but one day, we might actually meet you. This visit to Sankt Petersburg was as enjoyable as the previous one, but much colder!! So perhaps there will be a next time.
Many thanks for your prompt help!

Hi Timofey,

We were very happy with all that you offered us in lovely St P.  We have recommended you to many of our friends and family who have enjoyed looking at some of our gorgeous photos of Imperial Russia and hearing many of the stories that you told.  Your knowledge was awesome and you were able to get us in and out of the sights with such ease and see the main things, while still not taking too long.  I found this particularly helpful for my sore leg.... thankyou.  The night at the ballet was a particular highlight too. Certainly having the van drop us off and pick us up at all the sights was SUCH a wonderful convenience.

We have come away with wonderful memories of our time there, and we thank you and Alex for looking after us so very well.

Hi Tim,

We had a wonderful visit to your city and thoroughly enjoyed our time in your company!

Pamela Bowles May,2013

If you are fortunate  enough to be able to have Timofey Kruglikov as your personal guide in St. Petersburg, then you are, indeed, in an enviable position!  We spent 3 days with Timofey and every moment was well organized, incredibly informative, rich with anecdotal details and stories, and thoroughly enjoyable.  He has the formal and informal background/education/experience that is unparalleled--and imperative if you are seeking to maximize your visit to St. Petersburg.  This city has a myriad of options for how to spend your time, and Timofey is intuitive in matching your interests with the correct choices to make.  We had been  planning  this trip for a very long time and were quite direct in what we wished to do.  Timofey exceeded our expectations!  O, and by the way, if you have not heard, the long lines at the most popular attractions are excruciatingly painful to  endure.  However, with Timofey as our guide,  we NEVER waited, and once inside he guided us directly to  the  highlights of each venue. Brilliant!  Thank you, thank  you, again for all that you did to make our St. Petersburg trip uniquely ours!

Timofey,

You have so enriched our knowledge of Saint Petersburg, Tsars, sexual antics of Catherine the Great, housing styles and vodka.

We have enjoyed your enthusiasm for the city in which you live. Thank you for sharing!

Dear Timofey

Thank you very much for a fantastic day today.  It was interesting, informative and thoroughly enjoyable.  You made it so easy for us to become immersed in Peterhof and the Hermitage.

This is Jill Purdy from Vancouver, British Columbia. Last June (2010) Sharon Woyat and I were lucky enough to have the services of Timofey Kruglikov whilst we were in St. Petersburg. Timofey had been recommended to me by my neighbour who used his services the year before. Timofey was a fabulous guide- turned up exactly on time - his English is flawless and of course he knows his Russian history like the back of his hand!!!! Timofey was also flexible enough so that when we insisted on visiting a local supermarket to purchase vodka he didn't complain at all!!!!

If anyone wants more details about Timofey please don't hesitate to get in touch with me at jpurdy@telus.net

Timofey....

Just wanted to thank you again for a wonderful educational weekend of your beautiful city. You have given us lifetime memories...

Best wishes...

Cathy, Kevin, Bob, Fran, Debby and David.

Dear Tim,

Susan and I returned to Furry Creek (Vancouver, BC) a few days ago after a vary successful holiday on the Regatta with our Canadian friends. The highlight of the cruise was, as we expected, the three days that we spent in St. Petersburg under your guidance. We continued to talk about all that you showed and taught us for the balance of our voyage. Thank you for taking such good care of us and teaching us so much about Russian history. St.Petersburg would not have been as enjoyable without you and we include Andre as well. Your city can only be described as fascinating. Hopefully, you will bring your family to our part of the world some day. It is as beautiful here as St.Petersburg is fascinating. Susan joins me in saying thank you and sending you our best wishes.

Kindest regards

Richard Bennetts

Dear Timofey,

A heart felt thank you from Billy and me for making our time in St. Petersburg so special and interesting. We are so grateful to have made a wonderful new friend and to have been so fortunate to partake of all of your knowledge. A long trip back home - but pretty smooth all in all.

With love and best regards,

Vicky

Dear Timofey,

Our party of seven friends engaged your services on the recommendation of friends who had toured with you previously. We found your presentation of your city and its features enthralling; you were never at a loss to be efficient, informative and interesting, to answer our questions, to keep us moving through the occasional crowd and to make good eating and entertaining recommendations. We would like to come back and in the meantime have no hesitation in recommending your company to anyone sincerely interested in all St. Petersburg has to offer.

Kindest regards

Chris Hodson

Dear Timofey,

I thought it was high time I sent you a message to say Ros and I are safely back in New Zealand after our wonderful trip through the Baltic. The highlight was our three days in St. Petersburg and for that to have been a great success its all down to you. We simply can't thank you enough for all your kindness and for your patience and organisational skills. We loved St Petersburg and we know that without your help it wouldn't have been half the city it was. Our visit to St. Petersburg is still the most wonderful memory and for that we have you to thank.

Thank you.

Best wishes

For the past 10 years I have been bringing groups of North American's to St Petersburg. As soon as I have my dates confirmed I immediately try to book Timofey to be our guide. In my experience he is the best. He has an amazing knowledge of the political and social history of Russia and this stunning city. His anecdotes' are second to none. He has a great manner with my clients and builds an instant rapport with his stories and sense of humour. I know if I manage to secure Timofey as our guide I can relax as I know everything will go well, my clients will have a great guide, and they will be put at ease in this large exotic city. I can highly recommend him.

Timofey Kruglikov is perhaps the best local guide that I have ever encountered during twelve years of managing tours throughout Europe, Scandinavia, Baltic states, and Russia. He has a comprehensive grip on history, culture, economics, politics and industry. He presents his impressive knowledge in a personable, friendly, and often very humorous way. I would highly recommend his services to anyone who wishes to have a superior understanding of not just St. Petersburg, but of Russia as well."

Having taken many groups through Northern, Central and Eastern Europe and Russia for five years I’ve worked with many city guides. Timofey Kruglikov is definitely one of the best, consistently delivering an excellent experience with an engaging and amusing style. From complex and intriguing historical details to humorous anecdotes his personal accounts and educated passion for his hometown and country will leave you wanting more.

As a guide I know I can count on him to navigate the traffic, find worthwhile excursions, accommodate requests and make the most of our groups time.

Thanks to him I’ve become fascinated with this city and look forward to learning more each time. Anyone visiting St. Petersburg should not miss the opportunity to have Timofey show them St. Petersburg and enjoy his engaging company.

My wife, daughter and I were extremely impressed with the guiding services provided by Timofey when we visited St. Petersburg in mid-September 2011. Prior to our arrival we had decided on a three-day programme of visits to a variety of places, including some outside the central city area. At our request Timofey also organised tickets for a ballet performance.

Our programme was exceptionally well organised and Timofey ensured that all of the visits were efficiently structured. We were especially impressed with the way he explained what we saw; as a professional historian Timofey has a deep and engaging interest in the complex issues, places and people involved.

Of the many tour guides we have engaged over the years we have no hesitation in saying that Timofey is the best. He is passionate about what he does, is friendly and highly informed, and was instrumental in making our short visit to St. Petersburg a truly wonderful experience.

Hello again, Timofey,

I just want to take time to thank you for our tour. Because of you, it was the highlight of our cruise!

For the rest of the cruise, our little group would talk of all the beauty we were privileged to see in our 2 days with you. We talked of how lucky we had been to have someone with your knowledge of the history of St. Petersburg and everything that goes along with it. You brought us into something that is very special.

As we stopped in other cities on our way back to Amsterdam, all were compared to St. Petersburg. None measured up with what you shared with us. Yes, each had it's own charm, but nothing like we had in St. Petersburg. I think that it will be that way for the rest of our lives.

There is nothing like St. Petersburg. It is incomparable.

When Rita and I talk about our tour, people get excited. I think it's because of the intimacy that is inherit on a small, personal tour.

Thank you again. We will remember always our time with you and St. Petersburg.

Tim has acted as a guide on at least two occasions when I have taken a group of between 16 and twenty people to spend a week in St. Petersburg. During our visits, he was unfailingly helpful, courteous and a fount of knowledge about the history, art, architecture, literature and politics of the city. He spent all day every day with our groups and his patience and humor in the face of constant questioning are legendary.

I remember on one occasion during a discussion of Pushkin’s poetry, he was asked to quote a part which demonstrated the onomatopoeia of the Bronze Horseman. The whole coachload erupted in spontaneous applause!

He is good fun to be with, and a guide who gives far more than 100%. On every occasion, our guests went home with wonderful memories and a great deal of new-found knowledge of the city and its wonders. I know that the next time I visit St. Petersburg either with a group or privately, I will be in touch with Tim as a guide and a friend.
